What is Tai Chi?

An art embracing the mind, body and spirit – The essential principles include mind integrated with the body; control of movements and breathing; generating internal energy and mindfulness. The  purpose of tai chi is to cultivate the ‘qi’ or life energy within us to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. Total harmony of the inner and outer self comes from the integration of mind and body, empowered through healthy ‘qi’ through the practice of tai chi.

Benefits of Tai Chi:

  • Reduces stress –Taichi is able to reduce stress and anxiety in just 12 weeks, just as conventional exercise does. Taichi’s advantage over physical exercise is that it provides the individual with a safer alternative because it is low impact and less vigorous.

  • Reduces risk of falls in older adults – an improve balance and motor function, as well as decrease the fear and risk of falling in the elderly, after 8 weeks of practice. Therefore, Tai Chi reduces dependence and improves the quality of life and the general well-being of grandparents.

  • Reduces pain of rheumatoid arthritis – It is optimal to reduce the pain of arthritis and improve mobility, balance and quality of life.
